The Photography Prize laureates exhibition

Initial LABO and the Fondation des Treilles are pleased to invite you on February 9, 2023 from 6 p.m. to the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the Photography Prize of the Fondation des Treilles, within the Initial LABO gallery.

The opening will take place in the presence of Maryvonne de Saint Pulgent, president of the Fondation des Treilles, the president of the jury Jean-Luc Monterosso, Guillaume Bourjeois, director of the Fondation des Treilles, and Dominique Laugé, coordinator of the Prize.

Created in 2011, the “Residence Prize for Photography” rewards each year winners selected on a photographic project dealing with the Mediterranean world and bears witness to the historical, societal and artistic evolutions of this region.

The partnership between Initial LABO and the Fondation des Treilles makes it possible for the third time to exhibit the fruit of the work carried out by the photographers during their residency at Les Treilles, and to present the new winners, residents in 2023.

The first “Prix Escourbiac – Fondation des Treilles”, which helps with the publication of a photographic book linked to the Mediterranean world, in partnership with the printer Escourbiac, will also be unveiled.

The exhibition

The resident artists in 2022, Mohamed Camara, Alain Fleischer and Karine Pierre will invite us this year to discover through their eyes three singular entry points into Mediterranean stories.

Mohamed Camara makes the Mediterranean wind sing through curtains woven in Bamako and full of stories to reveal. Alain Fleischer pays homage to the transdisciplinarity dear to the Treilles, with his dreamlike and immersive interpretation of Ovid’s poem. Karine Pierre delivers with “Terres échiquées” (torn lands) an iconography of survival, condensed in the dilapidated “Gaza Hospital” of Beirut.

The exhibition will run until February 24 at Initial LABO, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Initial LABO, 62 avenue Jean Baptiste Clément, 92100 Boulogne Billancourt
